Hey Guys; I apologise how late I have uploaded this blog post as this was supposed to go up beginning of January and it is now the beginning of Feb >_<
Wedding Planning, doing major overtime at your 9-5 job and trying to keep a regular gym routine is not easy which is what has caused the delay but I finally got there in the end …

2017 was an interesting year for me;
I started the year off with acne that was out of control – from Summer onwards I completely cut out all skincare & makeup products to then ending the year with a whole new bunch of favourite products that I will be sharing with you in this blog post (including haircare).

La Roche-Posay Effacler H Moisturiser

Starting off with skincare – I have combination skin that is acne prone and sensitive so I found it quite difficult finding a good moisturiser that catered to my skin type as most products for acne/blemishes tend to be very drying.
I was watching Soniaxfyza’s snapchat as Fyza would give updates regarding her skin as she went on the medication Roaccutane. Fyza would always rave about this moisturiser and how it is effective for acne prone skin but is hydrating and moisturising at the same time. I purchased the La Roche-Posay Effacler H Moisturiser in November and I can honestly say that I am really happy with it – I find that my skin is super hydrated and moisturised throughout the the day, I didn’t react or break out in spots and I love the cooling effect that the cream has.
I recently found out that there is a Effacler H range – I hope that the other products are as good and as effective as the moisturiser!

Pixi Glow Tonic

I have heard many great reviews about the Pixi Glow Tonic for years now and I have been meaning to purchase but I wanted to wait until my skin calmed down in case the toner irritated my spots and skin.
M&S were selling the Pixi Best of Bright skincare set that contained a mini Glow Tonic, Rose Flash Balm & a Peel and Polish – this is a perfect set for those that have not yet tried out Pixi skincare but want to get a taster to see how the products work for them.
I  instantly fell in love with the Glow Tonic and actually saw a difference after a week of using it. As I suffered with acne, I have a few dark spots and patches remaining on my face and I found that the Glow Tonic has helped to brighten and even out my complexion. On boxing day M&S then reduced the 100ml Glow Tonic to £5! So I am now happily stocked up ^_^

THE BODYSHOP Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask

I first tried this mask out at one of my best friends’ house. She is in love with THE BODYSHOP Tea Tree range that I have read great reviews about and my mum loves the tea tree oil and cleanser from THE BODYSHOP – so I was already pretty familiar with the range.
Now when you first hear ‘clay mask’ you instantly think DRYING…but I am happy to tell you that this mask does the opposite of that. This mask is perfect for blemished skin and I love that it has a cooling effect that makes your skin feel refreshed. As I mentioned before, this mask is not over-drying but drying enough to still perform as a clay mask should which is to cleanse the skin and to clear and remove any impurities.
I use this mask 1-2 times a week, one day I will leave it on for 15-30 mins and the other day I will leave it on overnight – I found my complexion would be noticeably clearer and smoother in the morning by following this routine.

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Face & Body Mask

This is an amazing product that acts as a face mask as well as an exfoliant that can be used on the face and body. Lush are good in terms of samples – when I first wanted to try out this mask my skin was very problematic and I literally reacted to everything and anything, so I was able to test out the mask sample first before purchasing and fell in love instantly. I find that this mask is perfect as it leaves your skin feeling fresh while it is applied to your face and after it has been removed, it isn’t super drying and leaves skin moisturised, I also love that when removing the mask it acts as an exfoliant so I do see a difference as my skin looks clearer and brighter.

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie

My hair is naturally curly, dry and unruly but not very thick so I struggle to find products that do not completely weigh down my hair or make it all sticky and impossible to style. I really love the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl and Shine shampoo and conditioner for my hair so I thought to try out another product from their range – The Curl Enhancing Smoothie. Even though it clearly states on the lid that it is for thick and curly hair, I find that using the smallest amount of product is just right. While my hair is damp I run this through my hair starting from the ends and then make my way up to my roots – this method ensures that you don’t apply too much product to the roots which is an easy mistake to make and results in your hair being weighed down by the product and greasy in appearance.

Macadamia Natural Oil Care & Treatment Deep Repair Masque

I have read so many great reviews on this hair masque online and on social media that I had to get my hands on this as soon as possible. I suffer with dry and unruly hair so I am always on the hunt for hair masques, treatments and oils. I managed to get this on offer during the black friday sales and it is honestly the best hair masque I have ever tried. I like to leave it on over night and I find that this masque really enhances my curls, it keeps my hair hydrated & moisturised and gives a natural healthy glow and shine that my hair lacks. I have been using this treatment once a week and have seen a visible difference in my hair and I am really loving it – I highly recommend this product to all of you!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

This concealer is one of my favourites – it reminds me of a more hydrating version of the MAC pro longwear concealer. It is full coverage and it sets beautifully but the only downside is that I struggle to find a shade for my skin tone as they are either too orange or too pink. I am using the shade medium and I find that when it sets it does oxidise just a little to the orange side so I have to then correct it with my MAC studio finish powder in the shade C3.

Fenty Beauty Pro’Filtr Soft Matte Foundation – 240

Everyone has been raving about this foundation so much that I did queue outside of Harvey Nichols to get colour matched and it is safe to say that the hype was real. I am in LOVE with this foundation, it has a formula that I have never seen before and throughout the day the foundation just looked better (rather than dissolving and gathering in areas that most foundations do usually do after 6 hours+ of wear). I do think I need to wear this foundation more as I believe that when the foundation did set it had a slight orange finish, but overall I really do love everything about this foundation. It is a perfect ‘every day’ foundation or for those that prefer their makeup to look like skin rather than full coverage which is what drew me to this foundation even more.

NARS Bord De Plage Highlighting and Bronzing Palette

When I first came across this palette I was instantly drawn to it. I did worry that the shades would be a bit too light for me but I was wrong – they were perfect. One of my favourite bronzer’s is the Benefit Hoola bronzer, for me it is the perfect shade and I found that the bronzer’s in this palette were very similar. The range of highlighting shades are amazing as they’re not too gold/white/pink. They act perfectly on their own as well as with each other – I also use these as eye shadows or apply them to my inner tear ducts to give a pop of shimmer.

YSL Souffle D’eclat Loose Powder in 03

This powder is everything – I love the Laura Mercier famous loose translucent powder but found that it is too white and ashy and I really wish that they had it in more shades. I tried out numerous powders that had more of a yellow undertone but I had no luck as they just didn’t sit on my skin well regardless of the different techniques I tried to apply them with. There were a lot of reviews on the YSL Souffle D’Eclat Loose Powder that comes in 4 different shades – I found that the best shade for me is 03. I love to use this to set my under eye concealer as well as my whole face without having to worry about looking too pale or ashy.

That is all for my 2017 favourites – I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post.
